Spice paprika grist is a typical spice of Hungarian dishes. Paprika as a spice became generally known only in the 18th century. It was rst grown in the district of Szeged. Later also the countryside of Kalocsa began growing spice paprika in large quantities. This was supported by a Hungarian invention: the pulverization of spice paprika. Spice paprika has been until now almost an only national Hungarian spice. In no other place in the world it is used in pulverized form, without any other spices, only in Hungarian territories.
